Nigerian Army sacks Boko Haram insurgents from Alagarmo Forest
The Nigerian military authorities, yesterday said they have sacked Boko Haram insurgents from Alagarno Forest in Borno State.
The statement came barely 24 hours after the insurgents attacked Kwajafa village, south of Borno, killing 24 persons and injuring many others.
In a statement issued by Sani Usman, acting director of Army Public Relations, the military said the affected insurgents were of the “last camp” and that mopping-up operation had already begun.
“This morning, troops of the Nigerian Army along with support from the Nigerian Air Force, cleared the last camp of Boko Haram terrorists in Alagarno forest located between Kaga and Daboa local government areas of Borno, which link Yobe and Gombe states.
“The key terrorists’ camps within the forest include Falluja and Timbuktu camps, which have all been cleared,” the statement read in part. Usman said a lot of recoveries,’ including armoured fighting vehicles and computers, were made.
The military authorities, however, added that troops had started mopping up the area and that details of the operations would be disclosed later.
