The food vendors, canteen workers endorse Ajimobi for second term

FOOD vendors and canteen workers in all the 33 local government areas of Oyo State have pledged their support for the second term bid of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
The food vendors and canteen workers, under the aegis of Food Vendors and Canteen Workers Union in Oyo State, declared their support at a rally held at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Ibadan, recently.
The Chairperson of the union, Alhaja Mopelade Aderemi Iyadunni, who led thousands of her members at the rally, said they decided to pitch their tents with Governor Ajimobi because “he is the best among the contenders for the governorship seat.”
Iyadunni particularly acknowledged what she described as the unprecedented achievements of the governor in the last four years, in the areas of social and physical infrastructure, which had led to the rapid transformation of the state.
Besides, the chairperson also said that Ajimobi deserved a second term in office for bringing peace and tranquillity which had hitherto eluded the state, a feat which she said had helped her members tremendously in their businesses.
She assured the governor that members of her union would vote for him and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, at the forthcoming general election.
“We have taken our time to assess you and others contesting against you and we have decided to cast our votes for you and other APC candidates because you have performed tremendously well.
“We can never forget the gains which your administration had brought to us. If only for nothing, the peace that has been reigning in Oyo State since your assumption of office, which has helped our businesses, is enough reason for us to support you for a second term,’’ Iyadunni said.
In his remarks, Governor Ajimobi said that he would not relent in his support for the food vendors and canteen workers in the state.
He specifically said that his administration would engage some of them in the free daily feeding of school children programme which he said would commence immediately after his re-election.
Governor Ajimobi attributed the provision of social infrastructure in all the nooks and crannies of the state, which had enhanced the socio-economic development of the state, to the pervading peace.
He appealed to the food vendors and the entire citizens of the state not to sell their permanent voter cards, so as to enable them cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.
