Gabros, Rangers renew rivalry in Nnewi

Warri Wolves and Enugu Rangers

Glo Premier League returnee, Gabros International Football Club will have full hands when it hosts next door neighbor, Enugu Rangers International this weekend in the commercial town of Nnewi in one of the exciting fixtures of Match Day 3 of the current league season.
After a brilliant 2-0 victory against Warri Wolves in the season’s opening fixture, Gabros lost 2-1 on the road to Sunshine Stars in Akure last weekend. And Bulgarian Technical Adviser of the Nnewi side, Mitkov Dobrev, looks to return to winning ways with this weekend’s derby.
Rangers lost 2-1 to FC Taraba in in Jalingo in the season’s opener but won 2-1 against Sharks of Port Harcourt in their Week 2 fixture in Enugu last weekend. The Kelechi Emeteole-tutored Flying Antelope (nick name for Rangers), would not like to lose its second game on the road, more so when it’s a derby against a newly-promoted Gabros side.
Interestingly, both coaches, Emeteole and Dobrev know each other very well having worked together at Heartland FC of Owerri years back. It, therefore, promises to be an exchange of technical and tactical maneuvering by both coaches.
In another exciting fixture, El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri will host Abia Warriors of Umuahia at it adopted home ground, the Sabon Gari Stadium in Kano, in what could be rightly described as the battle of Warriors.
Abia Warriors came away with a goalless draw against Giwa FC in Jos in their first game on the road this season and the Ladan Bosso-tutored Umuahia-based Warriors look to grab another decent result on the road this weekend. But how they hope to achieve that against an El Kanemi side, that lost 2-1 to newly-promoted Kwara United in Ilorin last weekend, remains to be seen.
