Groups back APGA, Senator Igbeke on suit against Buhari

Nigerian-Senate

Barely 10 days to the March 28 presidential election, two groups, have thrown their support behind the suit seeking to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari from contesting the election.
The groups, Pan Ndigbo Forum (PNF) led by Chief Guy Ikokwu a.k.a Omenife, and Ndigbo Cultural Society of Nigeria NCSN), led by Chief Udoka Udogaranya, said the suit brought by All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Senator Alphonsus Igbeke challenging Gen Buhari’s candidacy was key and needed to be decided before the election.
APGA and Senator Igbeke had filed a suit at the Federal High Court  in Awka,  Anambra State, claiming that  “General Buhari had breached relevant provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Electoral Act 2010.”
In a 22-paragraph affidavit brought before Justice M.I. Abubakar in a suit, they are contending that General Buhari was not constitutionally qualified for presidency having failed to comply with the provisions of section 131, sub-section A, C, and D of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 31 of the Electoral Act 2010.
In his reaction, Chief Guy Ikokwu said: “The rule of law is very paramount in any democratic system, and Nigeria cannot be an exception.” On his part, Chief Udogaranya observed that apart from the constitutional breaches, Gen Buhari allegedly mismanaged the PTF in his days and accused him of “failing to build a mausoleum in honour of late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe while he was the PTF boss.”
